About Us

In 1982, a partnership was formed between Frank Coviello and David Rush that allowed D&M Exxon on East Main Street in Rockaway to begin performing auto body repairs for their customers. Word spread about our quality auto body repairs and our business increased significantly. We quickly outgrew the mechanical shop and also required more space for structural repair equipment, in order to properly repair damage on the new uni-body type vehicles. We knew we needed to move to a separate location in order to grow.

So within a year, we moved on from the D&M Exxon’s mechanical repair shop and relocated a few blocks away into a five bay building. This is when D&M Auto Body was officially born. Unfortunately, we were now located at the end of a dirt road in the middle of the woods. A wooden bridge (with no side rails) that went over a brook had to be crossed to get to the shop. Although we had more room, many customers were scared to drive over this bridge and elected to walk over it to our shop. A deteriorating old house trailer was utilized as the office that used two large dogs as the security system. Even with our less desirable location, the quality of our repairs allowed us to continually grow. However, we knew we needed to move again.

So, in 1988 we relocated to a 5,000 square foot industrial building that was located on the same road, but was closer and more easily accessible. This move eliminated the need to cross the bridge and was located on the paved portion of the road. In addition to now having ten repair bays and a real office, it also allowed us to install our first down draft paint booth. The installation of our paint booth improved paint quality and reduced repair time. This relocation also allowed us to begin marketing our more professional operation and as a result, we acquired many local car dealers and insurance accounts. This location served us well for many years, but we grew even more and realized we needed to move one more time.

In 1996, we designed and constructed a modern, state of the art collision repair facility that enables us to provide excellent customer service and auto body repairs. Our new shop is conveniently located at the intersection of Route 46 and East Main Street in Rockaway. D&M Auto Body now has a customer friendly office, comfortable waiting area, and separate appraiser offices, which are attached to an estimating bay. We also have eighteen repair bays and two super efficient paint booths. By viewing our services page you can see the amount of specialty equipment that is utilized at our current location.

Over the years, we have found that making the customer our number one priority is the key to succeeding in the collision repair industry. Therefore, our goal is to continue repairing collision-damaged vehicles to the highest possible standards, while keeping our customer’s best interests in mind. Many of our employees have been with our company throughout our success, and are committed to this business philosophy. From our humble beginning as a single bay in a mechanical shop, we are proud D&M Auto Body has been able to grow into one the area’s premier collision repair facilities.

D&M Auto Body is conveniently located on the Rockaway/Denville border of NJ and has been serving Rockaway, Denville, Dover, Randolph, Morris Plains, Cedar Knolls, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, Morristown, Roxbury, Hopatcong, Jefferson, Montville, Mount Olive, and the entire Morris County New Jersey area since 1984.
